HyperCam is an excellent Screen Recording Software that can be used to Capture Screen, create video tutorials and presentation. I has been using this software from past many years to create various presentation and How to videos. We can use this tool to capture screenshots, add explanations boxes, buttons, titles etc and thus create an useful tutorial for the users to see and learn.
HyperCam captures the action from your Windows Screen and saves it to AVI (Audio-Video Interleaved) movie file. Sound from your system microphone is also recorded.
To capture a screen video with HyperCam 2, you will first need to specify the screen are that you want to record. At the Screen Area tab, you can select the region using your mouse, or a specific Window which the software will automatically specify the values for Start X & Y, Width and Height.
It would be very useful to be familiar with the built in hotkeys that allows you to start/stop/pause/resume recording. The hotkeys are hardcoded to HyperCam software and cannot be changed.
- F2: Start/Stop Recording
- F3: Pause/Resume
- F4: Single Frame Shot (in Pause mode)
At the Sound tab, you can select whether to record sound from your microphone. Finally the Options lets you choose if you want to record the mouse cursor movements and adding starbursts to the movie when mouse is clicked. The Starburst effect is to allow the viewer to know if the mouse has been left or right clicked. There is a screen notes button for you to annotate your movies with pop-up text boxes while recording. This Feature is great when you are recording a video without a voice guidance.
HyperCam supports text annotations, sound, and screen notes (great for creating automated software demos and software training!). You can also select Frame rate and compression quality prior to recording your movie.
HyperCam v.2 is compatible with Windows Vista.
